Summary

Position Overview:

The Georgia Pre-K Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a high-quality educational experience for young children in the Pre-K program. This role involves assisting with the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, promoting a positive and engaging learning environment, and fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. The Assistant Teacher will work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher, support staff, and families to ensure each child’s success.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher in daily classroom activities, including planning and preparing materials for lessons and activities.
  • Child Engagement: Actively engage with children during play and learning activities, encouraging exploration, creativity, and positive social interactions.
  • Supervision: Supervise children to always ensure their safety and well-being, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Assessment Assistance: Support the Lead Teacher in observing and documenting children's progress and developmental milestones.
  • Family Communication: Build positive relationships with families through informal communication and participation in family engagement activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff to create a cohesive team environment that supports the educational goals of the classroom.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in an early childhood setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of child development principles, effective communication skills, ability to work well in a team, and a passion for supporting young children’s learning.
