Summary


The Milton Family Community Center (MFCC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The MFCC Executive Director serves as MFCC's key leader, and is responsible for providing the visionary leadership. as well as the day-to-day direct guidance, in developing and maintaining the best possible programs and services for young children and their families in our community. We are looking for someone who has both the vision and the skills to empower our organization in the strategic process of expanding and improving our program delivery and physical space to be one of the very best family resource centers in the state of Vermont. MFCC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, located in Milton, VT, serving as a hub of early childhood and family resources services. MFCC services include: licensed early childhood center-based child care program, licensed after school and summer program for school age children, community playgroups, emergency food shelf, parent education, home visits, family support services, and general community information resource and referral. MFCC is one of 15 state designated Parent Child Center members of the Vermont Parent Child Center Network, within which the Executive Director is required to actively engage in state-wide VPCCN collaborative activities and networking. This position reports directly to the MFCC Board of Directors.


Duties

Relationship Building: Responsible for leading MFCC in a manner that supports and guides the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Works with the MFCC Board and staff to ensure the MFCC mission is fulfilled through program delivery, strategic planning, community partnerships, and collaborative networking.

Program Leadership Management: Works with the MFCC Leadership Team to plan, develop, and maintain programs that best meet the needs of young children and their families in the communities served by MFCC. Responsible for creating and maintaining effective program assessment and evaluation efforts to measure performance and impact of MFCC programs on those receiving our services.

Community Development & Public Relations Management: Represents MFCC to the public. Advocates and promotes MFCC, and when applicable, attends public speaking opportunities, legislative advocacy activities, and other community engagement activities. Assigns appropriate personnel to public events to promote MFCC and its programs. Oversees all MFCC marketing and publicity activities. Participates, or assigns appropriate personnel to represent MFCC, in interagency collaborative networks, including: Vermont Parent Child Center Network, Children's Integrated Services, Milton PATCH, Building Bright Futures Council, KidsNet, Housing Resource Team, Starting Points Provider Network, etc.

Fund Development Management: Serves as MFCC's Chief Fund Development Officer. Develops and implements a fund development plan annually, including the coordination of special events, direct contact fundraising, a Donation Solicitation program, and community engagement opportunities. Works directly with the MFCC Board of Directors to carryout fundraising strategies and campaigns. Responsible for the planning and directing of MFCC's fundraising policies and capital development initiatives.

Fiscal Management: Develops and maintains resources sufficient to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. Responsible for the financial integrity of MFCC. Prepares and presents the MFCC annual organizational budget to the MFCC Board of Directors. Provides the Board of Directors with monthly financial statements which accurately reflects the current and forecasted financial conditions of the organization. Authorizes all MFCC payments and payroll. Advises MFCC Board of Directors of Center's long and short term financial needs. Maintains all grants and contracts for programs, including the research and application of potential new funding sources. Oversees the annual financial audit in collaboration with the MFCC Finance Director. Reports directly to the MFCC Board of Directors Finance Committee.

Personnel Management: Manages MFCC's daily operations and procedures in collaboration with the MFCC Leadership Team. Assures compliance with MFCCC policies and procedures. Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of hiring, retaining, and terminating employees. Conducts weekly Leadership Team meetings and provides direct supervision to MFCC's Leadership Team members. Assures all commercial and liability insurance policies are current and comprehensive to meet the minimum coverage as required by governing agencies. Assures for annual performance reviews and professional development opportunities for all MFCC employees. Updates the MFCC Employee manual as approved by the Board of Directors.

Building & Grounds Management: Responsible for assuring MFCC building and grounds are in compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety requirements, including but limited to those as required by the VT Agency of Human Services for the provision of licensed child care, parent child center services, and other human service outreach programs. Assigns and delegates specific building and grounds management duties as necessary to appropriate MFCC personnel. Serves as the authorized contact for the approval of all contractual agreements. Assures for the ongoing oversight of all building, grounds, and equipment repairs, maintenance, and improvements/upgrades.


Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience

Budget management skills and experience, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting

Demonstrated successful fundraising, donor solicitation, and grant writing experience

Leadership skills and experience

Knowledge and understanding of early childhood and family support services and systems in the state of Vermont.

Strong written and verbal skills
