First Steps is seeking a full-time teacher for our Infant Room, to start ASAP. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an early childhood educational setting, and especially have experience working with infants and toddlers. The preferred candidate will also hold a minimum of a C.D.A in early childhood education. The hours for this position are 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. Experience and knowledge of DHS rules and regulations as well as Developmentally Appropriate Practices is preferred. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with infants and toddlers and be flexible, energetic, professional, and eager to be part of an excellent team of early childhood educators.
-Supervise and provide care for infants and young toddlers ages 6 weeks through 15+ months old, following DHS rules and regulations
-Help implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
-Engage, play, and be actively involved in the care and activities of the babies
-Coordinate with the other teachers in the room with everyday cleaning and other duties
-Provide physical care needs typical for infants and toddlers (diapering, changing clothing, carrying, feeding, rocking, getting on the floor with them, etc)
-Attend required monthly Staff Meetings
-Complete required trainings per DHS requirements and First Steps requirements
-Hold and maintain current certification in CPR/1st Aid for all ages
-Be willing or open to further education in early childhood education or a related field as is warranted
-At least 18 years old
-Minimum high school diploma or GED
-Able to lift 40 lbs, bend, crouch, get on floor with infants
-Must pass background check
-Minimum 2 years experience in an early childhood educational setting preferred
-Five or more years in an early childhood educational setting
-Two or more years specifically working with infants and toddlers
-C.D.A. or higher in early childhood education or related field
