Summary

Join an experienced and committed group of early childhood professionals in a NAEYC-accredited center close to downtown St. Louis! At Downtown Children's Center Nestle Purina location, you will assist lead teachers with lesson plans based on Project Construct in a play-based curriculum, interact with children and families, implement family-style dining, and help children be safe, happy and actively learning. We are seeking nurturing, experienced teachers who bring patience and creativity to work every day. The Floater/Assistant Teacher reports to the Director or Assistant Director. The Floater/Assistant Teacher provides support to the classroom teachers and children. This may include covering lunch breaks, vacations or other staff absences. At all times, the Floater/Assistant Teacher will provide a nurturing environment, and interact with the children, their parents, staff members, and volunteers.


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends

Duties

Responsibilities:

· Work as a team member to meet the needs of the children, classroom and center as a whole

· Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child

· Actively participate and assist children with daily activities: mealtime, supervision during recess, toileting

· When appropriate, participate in open communication with parents

· Maintain confidentiality

· Clean and arrange classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy

· Maintain a safe and healthy environment

· Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials

· Attend in-service and staff meetings

· Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and time sheets

· Meet all applicable licensing regulations

· Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, clean toys and educational materials, clean common areas such as break room and outdoor play areas, inventory supplies, organize art and supplies cabinets.

Requirements

Education:


High school or equivalent (Required)

Nice To Haves

Experience:

  • Early Childhood General Education Teachers: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
