Summary
Little Dippers is looking for a Lead Teacher to support our children aged 5 years to 13 years of age. Our school-age program is expanding and looking for someone who is passionate about enriching the lives of children. This would be a great position for someone looking for supplemental work after school hours and during school vacations!
Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 5:00pm during the school week and full-time during school vacations (hours can be flexible). Opportunity to be full-time during the school week if interested!
Duties
- Leading and managing a classroom
- Create an engaging and age-appropriate curriculum, including the planning of field trips and community engagement activities.
- Developing a caring, supportive atmosphere for children and their parents
- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas;
- Maintain responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and cleanliness of the learning environment of the classroom;
- Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices that will include the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of young children.
- Encourage children's development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving, and taking responsibility for their actions;
- Interact with each child on a daily basis through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc.
- Nurture positive relationships with parents and establish continual communication.
- Collaborating with other teachers and staff to support each classroom and individual child's needs.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One or Two
- Current (Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals' course or Vermont Afterschool Essential Certificate.
- Successful completion of a three-credit college course in a related field.
