Summary

The Accounting Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing financial operations of our non-profit mission driven organization. The accounting manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing accounting data, creating financial reports, managing the organization’s budget, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This new and evolving position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to our organization’s mission.

Duties

  1. Financial Management
  2. Manage day to day accounting activities including accounts payable & receivable, account reconciliations, and payroll.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions
  4. Prepare and review financial statements, reports and budgets for internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Monitor cash flow and budget to actual performance across the organization.
  6. Financial Systems
  7. Maintain effective accounting systems, policies, and internal controls to safeguard assets
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance department.
  9. Compliance and Audit
  10. Ensure Compliance with non-profit accounting standards, legal requirements and government regulations
  11. Coordinate annual audits and tax filings by providing necessary documentation and support to auditors
  12. Maintain accounting procedures that are consistent with auditing requirements for the organization.
  13. Financial Planning and Analysis
  14. Collaborate with the operations & program teams in the development and monitoring of program budgets.
  15. Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision making and resource allocation
  16. Collaborate with the operations and program teams in the development of financial reports for grants and donations, ensuring clear and efficient financial reporting.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  2. Proven experience in non-profit accounting, including financial reporting and audit compliance.
  3. Understanding of non-profit accounting principles (GAAP), regulations and compliance requirements.
  4. Proficiency in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive
  5. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines accurately and efficiently.

  • Hours: primarily daytime, Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
