ASSISTANT TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION:
ASSISTANT TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must meet basic requirements of DHS licensing.
· Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required, a total of (18 hrs.) for new staff.
· Must have the ability to relate to young children in a positive manner.
· Previous experience working with children preferred.
College Degree or Qualified Work Experience
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
· Assist the teacher in the implementation of daily plan of activities.
· Work with the teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
· Assist teacher in maintaining good communications with parents.
· Obtain in-service and yearly training requirements.
· Understand child care requirements.
· Keep Director informed of any classroom problems, change in schedules, such as playground, music and end of the year parties or any other activities.
· Assist in keeping the room well organized and arranged appropriately.
· Cooperate with other staff to create a professional environment.
· Assist in maintaining visual supervision of children.
· Assist in maintaining records.
· Assist in music, gymnastics, and any other needed areas.
· Make daily bleach water solution for cleaning tables.
· Prepare daily snack at appropriate time.
· Assist in cleaning room each afternoon prior to leaving.
· Any other duties that are needed to properly perform the job.
