Preschool Center Cook

Summary

We are seeking a preschool center cook who will work with the director to learn to create menus that meet regulatory requirements and prepare nutritious meals and snacks.

The cook will ensure food safety by maintaining safe food storage temperatures, providing enough food is available, and following USDA food guide maintenance.

The cook will also maintain a clean kitchen by keeping the kitchen and food storage areas clean, washing and sanitizing dishes, countertops, and equipment, and removing trash and recyclables.

The cook will also serve classroom meals on time and at the appropriate temperature.

Manage food inventory by using the food order checklist to replace the number of items used by the food order date.

Avoid food waste by taking food count

Duties

1. Provide morning snacks, lunch, and supper to students, along with milk and water according to the schedule
2. Plate morning snacks and lunch to all classes on sanitized cars along with milk
3. Maintain a clean and safe kitchen as meals are in the process
4. Make alternative meals for children with food allergies
5. Immediately notify management of malfunctioning equipment
6. Immediately dry any floor spills
7. Take meal counts from each class before plating meals
8. Record meal components and meal counts immediately after distributing food

Requirements

1. Pass criminal records check
2. Have reliable transportation to get to and from work
3. Take all required training
4. Attend all staff meetings
5. Adhere to state agency and center policies
6. Pass USDA audits
