Duties

Responsibilities

Adheres to all state regulations, health codes and Redeemer Lutheran Church Training Guidelines. 

Observes daily health checks.

Completes timely, neat, accurate documentation of student evaluations, individualized plans, accident/incident reports, attendance, feedings, diapering, daily through Brightwheel for parents, and other documentation as may be deemed necessary for proving quality services.

  • Maintains an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child and family. 
  • Promotes feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers. 
  • Greets infants and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each morning. 
  • Assures that each infant is held; and each child is gradually assisted to become a part of the small group
  • Talks, sings, and reads to children frequently. 
  • Responds quickly in a soothing and tender manner to infants’ cries or calls of distress. 
  • Maintains a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and hand washing, and assures the well-being and safety of all of the children in that environment.

Feeding & Diapering

  • Responds consistently to infants’ needs for food and comfort. 
  • Implements individualized feeding plans for children at parent’s request; respects individual preferences and eating styles; sits with toddlers and models manners and good nutrition.
  • Tends to diaper changing minimum every two hours, more so if needed, cleaning, feeding, and changing soiled or wet clothes. 

Teaching

  • Respects infants’ curiosity about each other; ensures that children treat each other gently.
  • Organizes each day’s activities to provide children with a variety of experiences and opportunities. 
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of infants and toddlers to determine motor, language, social, cognitive perceptual and emotional skills. Document concerns and keep concerns confidential.  
  • Organizes each day’s activities to provide children with a variety of experiences and opportunities that allow them to develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, and creativity, as well as a sense of self and a feeling of belonging to the group.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, care-giving environment. Cleaning duties include, but are not limited to: sweeping, moping, sanitizing (diapering station, table tops, cribs, high chair trays, toys any other classroom surfaces), laundry, keeping toys tidy on shelves when not being used, washing bottle warmer nightly and occasional dishes.  
  • Maintains a positive, calm attitude and a pleasant, soothing voice.
  • Teaches and models developmentally appropriate practices. 
  • Works as a team with cooperating teachers to prepare monthly lesson plans that are turned into the infant/toddler coordinator.  
  • Attends all training opportunities and staff meetings as provided and scheduled.
  • Is flexible to working in another classroom not normally assigned based on needs, at the request of any member of the administration team.   
  • Performs any other tasks deemed necessary by the infant/toddler coordinator or center director.

Requirements

MUST have experience and be over 21 years of age.
