Summary

Gilgal, Inc. is seeking a passionate operations leader inspired to build a career supporting a Christ-centered program helping women escape addiction and homelessness. The Director of Operations will have day-to-day responsibility for all business operations and support efforts related to fundraising, community relations, and strategic planning to ensure Gilgal Inc.'s continued success and growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and operational acumen, as well as an appreciation for the challenges of addiction recovery.


Opportunity for Advancement: This role is designed to provide the opportunity for future succession to assistant executive director and/or executive director. It presents a unique opportunity for a talented individual to work alongside our founder and current Executive Director to understand all the requirements for running this organization. During this mentorship process, the successful candidate will build the skills needed to lead with impact and drive the long-term success and sustainability of Gilgal, Inc.

Duties

  1. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategic plans that ensure the program’s effectiveness and long-term sustainability. Participate in key decision-making processes and represent the organization as needed in external forums.
  2. Financial Management: Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with other leaders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities. Oversee all financial operations such as expenses, donations management, payroll, tax filings, and compliance. Prepare regular financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Facilities and Vendor Management: Supervise facility operations, including maintenance, security, and cleanliness. Work with the office administrator to ensure the physical environment is safe, welcoming, and conducive to recovery. Manage facility budgets and resources effectively. Manage all vendor relationshipsand contracts, including renewals and negotiations.
  4. Technology Management: Maintain technology systems necessary to support program operations, including electronic health records (EHR) and security systems. Work with the office administrator to maintain all systems for effective business operations. Ensure staff members receive training on technology systems and utilize them effectively.
  5. Program Management: Collaborate with the Director of Programs to build operational practices that support the program goals. Ensure that services are delivered in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  6. Staff Supervision: Provide leadership and supervision to the multidisciplinary team that supports Gilgal clients. Foster a culture of collaboration, professional development, and accountability.
  7. Volunteer Coordination: Develop policies, schedules, and training for volunteer engagement and effectiveness. Identify volunteer opportunities with others with special attention to needs for Program support. Partner with all leaders to coordinate volunteer recognition events and communicate effectively with volunteers who support the organization's mission.
  8. Collaboration with Peers: Work closely with the Program Director to ensure seamless coordination of services and resources. Collaborate with Case Managers, Job Developers, Residential Managers, Volunteers, and Board Members to support the holistic needs of program participants.
  9. Safety Compliance: Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks to clients, staff, and visitors, including residential safety and escalation procedures. Keep fire safety procedures current and emergency kits in place. Conduct regular inspections, tests, or audits to ensure compliance with safety procedures, building codes, and health regulations. Ensure all staff have current first aid and CPR training. Respond promptly to any safety concerns or emergencies.
  10. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Mitigate risks associated with program operations through effective policies, procedures, and staff training.
  11. Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including referral agencies, funding sources, and advocacy groups. Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and public events to promote awareness and support.
  12. Board Relations and Governance: Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support governance processes, strategic planning, and organizational development efforts. Provide regular updates and reports to the Board on program performance, financial status, and key initiatives.
  13. Reporting: Prepare required reports for government agencies, grantmakers, and other funding partners to ensure compliance with funding requirements. Ensure all reports meet the specific guidelines and standards set by funders and are submitted timely.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization, preferably in addiction recovery or social services.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and QuickBooks Online is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, ability to coach and manage staff, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
  • Engaging, nonjudgmental personality with an authentic relationship orientation.
  • Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to manage your own emotions and empathize with others’ feelings without being manipulated.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to resolve issues, build consensus, and mediate conflict.
  • Patient yet firm leader with a strong desire for personal growth and learning.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Gilgal, Inc., with a passion for empowering women in their journey to recovery.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health); Business or Master’s degree a plus.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Pay range: of $60,000 - $67,000/year
  • 401K is matched up to 4% of salary

Gilgal is a Christ-centered, long-term recovery residence for women experiencing homelessness due to drug and alcohol addiction. Through our one-year, two-phase program, we seek to transition women from crisis and homelessness to stability and independent living.


Committed to offering a safe and supportive environment, we empower women in their journey towards recovery through comprehensive therapy, life skills development, and community integration by providing food, clothing, and housing, as well as a full range of recovery services, spiritual nourishment, workforce development, life skills training, and transitional support. We are located in Atlanta and serve the metro area and greater Georgia.


We have been in operation for over 19 years and have helped over 750 women reclaim themselves from a destructive life of addiction. Gilgal has a 501(c)(3) designation and relies upon generous donations from individuals, churches, businesses, foundations, and community organizations.
