Generations Montessori School of Charlottesville is seeking reliable, caring, knowledgeable, dedicated people to assist in our infant, toddler, and primary classrooms.
Responsibilities:
· Report to lead teacher
· Cooperate with and follow through on suggestions from lead teacher, co-director, and specialists to maintain a quality comprehensive program
· Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
· Know the whereabouts of children in care at all times
· Complete at least 16 hours of professional development each year
· Be familiar with the regulations set out by the Virginia Department of Social Services
· Be familiar with the program policies set out by Generations Montessori School. This includes, the Staff Handbook, Parent Handbook, Emergency Preparedness Plan, etc.
· Exhibit a genuine, nurturing, caring attitude to all students
· Maintain a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom.
· Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the teacher, co-directors, volunteers, and parents in planning and implementing activities
· Assist teacher in making observations of child’s development to determine their strengths and areas in which they may need assistance
· Maintain confidentiality in student records
· Attain first aid, CPR, blood born pathogen, and other certifications as required
· Report to school on all teacher work days and calendar days unless pre-arranged with co-director
· If sick, please inform the co-director as soon as possible so coverage can be ensured
· Assist lead teacher in any way possible, including but not limited to…
o Preparing and setting up activities, including snack
o Implementing portions of the daily program as directed by the lead teacher
o Assisting in keeping the classroom, storage areas, playground area, and bathrooms clean, neat, orderly, and sanitized.
o Assist with feedings, diaper changes, nap routines, etc.
