We are looking for a Preschool Director to lead our school community at our Alexandria location. The ideal candidate is a proven early childhood education leader with a passion for working with young children and their families and has the vision, high integrity, and strong interpersonal skills that make for a great leader. Our center is Reggio Emilia inspired and we are seeking an educator who possesses an educational philosophy based on the Reggio Emilia values of collaboration, community, and child-directed learning.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center, including determination of all schedules and assignment of preschool staff responsibilities
● Supervise general condition and upkeep of the school and grounds; Ensure that the new health regulations related to COVID-19 are being met by the school community
● Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and families
● Ensure timely collection of tuition from parents
● Communicate with all elements of the school community (parents, teachers and government contacts)
● Assist with the development of a curriculum to meet the needs of children
● Staff management, including oversight of hiring, training and supervision of preschool staff
● Assist the staff in the creation of a Reggio inspired environment
● Guide the staff in administering, planning and evaluating lesson plans and long term projects
● Train and supervise preschool staff by holding regular meetings, mediating minor disagreements and assisting in the classroom if necessary
● Conduct preschool staff evaluations and provide coaching for improvement
● Maintain knowledge of first aid, CPR, and health screening.
Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, Education Administration or a related field required.
● Masters in Early Childhood Education, Education Administration or related field with credits in administration, leadership, and management or equivalent preferred
● A minimum of 5 years’ experience at director level or equivalent experience
● Demonstrated leadership in early childhood education including support and development of early childhood curriculum
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
● Outstanding interpersonal, coaching and listening skills with the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
● A strong desire to create a community within the school’s staff and families
● The ability to mentor and inspire teaching staff
