Summer Daycare Cook Position

Summary

We are looking for a Summer Daycare Cook. We would love someone who is bubbly and enjoys cooking and being around kids. The candidate would need to be able to cook and prepare breakfast, lunch and snack for about 70 children. The candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm. These individuals must love working with young children and be able to cultivate a loving and enriching environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing meals for children and is creative in preparing a child like menu that meets USDA standards and has a food handler's card. 

Duties

Your responsibilities include ensuring enough food is available each day and that each meal is USDA food guide compliant. Other duties involve maintaining a clean kitchen workspace, storing food according to local health unit guidelines, and serving food hygienically.

• Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms
• Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
• Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
• Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served 
• Make weekly food orders through vendors
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
• Make sure all thermometers are working properly
• Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
• Wash and sanitize all dishes
• Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
• Remove trash and recyclables daily
• Organize and put away all groceries, food orders and non-food items
