We are seeking a part time Food Program Manager to join our dedicated teaching community who are committed to supporting children’s growth and development by providing healthy food choices, nutrition education, and garden to table activities.

Pine Forest Children's Center (PFCC) has been providing high quality early childhood education for a diverse community of families in the South End of Burlington since 1988. We pride ourselves on our ability to partner with families to help children grow to the best of their abilities. PFCC is a multi-faceted community which values imagination, integrity, curiosity and responsibility in children and adults. 


The Food Program Manager is responsible for preparing and serving lunch and afternoon snacks to approximately 70 children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age. The Food Program Manager also has the opportunity to engage in nutrition education for the children at the Pine Forest Children's Center. The hours are 8:30 am-1:30 pm

Duties

Job responsibilities:


*Menu planning (according to CACFP guidelines)

*Food purchasing and ordering, including Costco pick up once a week

*Documentation of food served, and supporting CACFP paperwork

*Food prep (chopping, mixing, portioning, etc.)

*Cooking lunch and preparing snack that meets CACFP guidelines 

*Working with families to accommodate and understand children's allergies

*Making baby food purees

*Maintaining clean workspace throughout the day

*Interacting with children about food/nutrition

*Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting food preparation dishes and surfaces

Requirements

Qualifications:

Food prep/cooking experience

Passion for childhood nutrition

Hardworking and motivated

Reliable and professional

Must be able to provide own transportation to center (on Flynn Ave) and to Costco


*ServeSafe Certification (or willing to become certified)


*Knowledge of CACFP guidelines (or willing to learn)


Physical Requirements

        Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, and kneeling.
