Summary
The Early Elementary Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, evaluating and overseeing the continuous improvement of all aspects of social/emotional and academic services for the early elementary program.
Duties
Program Management and Leadership
- Comply with all of the Department of Public Instruction and Milwaukee Parental Choice program requirements.
- Comply with the school Cogina accreditation requirements.
- Comply with requirements related to partnerships with community contracted services such as First Stage, Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, Head Start, Special Education, Title I etc.
- Seek, analyze, and address feedback from multiple stakeholders.
- Develop, support, and sustain the school improvement plan.
- Ensure that all the internal and external programs align with the school improvement plan.
- Assist with the recruitment and enrollment for the school.
- Assist with the recruitment, interview process, onboarding, and mentoring of new staff.
- Additional duties as collaboratively agreed upon between the Site Director and the board of directors.
Assessment and Data Review Cycles
- Analyze school-wide data regularly with the administrative and instructional staff.
- Coordinate and lead data review meetings.
- Provide reports to the Malaika Early Learning Center Board of Directors on student achievement data.
Response to Intervention Coordination
- Train staff to provide research-based instructional practices.
Curriculum, Instruction, and RTI Leadership
- Identify and prioritize professional needs by analyzing student data and classroom observations.
- Develop, implement and plan professional development for teachers.
- Train staff in the delivery of instructional practices.
Educator Effectiveness/Coaching
- Review lesson plans and provide on-going, specific, actionable, positive and constructive feedback.
- Develop and implement a coaching cycle for instructional staff.
- Conduct classroom observation and feedback cycles in accordance with educator effectiveness, supervision, and evaluation.
- Ensure that educator effectiveness plans are current and ongoing.
Family Engagement
- Create and sustain a welcoming environment for families.
- Develop, implement and monitor effectiveness of positive behavior and support systems, discipline and conduct plans in collaboration with staff and families.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Working knowledge, disposition, and ability to build respectful, positive relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including families/caregivers, staff, and community members on behalf of the children served at Malaika Early Learning Center.
- Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Licenses - Administrative and/or Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Reading Specialist is preferred
- Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction License-Elementary Education (preferable)
Experience
- At least three years of effective professional coaching and instructional leadership with diverse adult learners in diverse settings.
- At least five years experience as a full-time teacher in a primary grade classroom.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of early literacy instruction.
- Experience in assessing student knowledge, skills, and abilities and using results to guide instruction.
- Experience reviewing, selecting/developing, and evaluating curriculum.
- Knowledge of the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards, and National Common Core Standards and the accreditation process. .
- Experience using/analyzing student data.
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating positive behavior support systems.
- Experience in implementing Measures of Academic Progress (MAP and or other assessment tools.
