Summary

Support out-of-school programs during the school year. Assist in managing day-to-day operations which includes monitoring state license compliance, maintaining enrollment files, taking daily attendance, completing incident reports, and collaborating with ERfC administrators to implement academic, enrichment, and recreational programs for the participants and their families. Lead specific lessons daily within a broad range of programming including arts, recreation, academic support, enrichment, sports, career readiness, community service, and life and wellness programs. Work collaboratively with ERfC staff, Enfield Public Schools staff and administration, and community partners.

Duties

Essential Responsibilities

  • Remain on-site at all times during Center operation. In an emergency, contact main office to arrange administrative backup before leaving site in order to comply with licensing requirement regarding presence of a head teacher-certified individual.
  • Serve as an acting Center Administrator as needed.
  • Coordinate and follow systems for maintaining secure and accurate student records.
  • Keep a daily log of all incidents and other significant events including school administrative/teacher/staff conversations and parent/guardian conversations/calls
  • Work with students in a positive, firm, and consistent manner.
  • Support the development and maintenance of an electronic academic and social profile for each student enrolled.
  • Maintain weekly attendance reports for the administrative office.
  • Assist leadership in developing and coordinating activities with staff and community partners.
  • Assist the ERfC Registrar in updating student registrations; maintain accurate records of transactions in the daily Center Log.
  • Maintain a record of phone calls and emails received and sent.
  • Create, update, and maintain Center bulletin boards. Responsible for providing main offices, guidance offices, and classrooms with up to date with parent and student enrollment information.
  • Assist in maintaining all licensing requirements. Coordinate with the Licensing Coordinator for materials as needed. Ensure compliance in maintaining and updating, all CT Department of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing forms and other paperwork.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for State CCLC Evidence Binders. Coordinate with the Licensing Coordinator for all materials and ensure compliance in maintaining and updating all materials required by CCLC state funding sources.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of classrooms and other areas/rooms used according to licensed space provided.
  • Assist ERfC Administrative staff in developing and implementing family activity events.
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules, practice safe work habits, and report unsafe conditions or any and all damages to the Childcare Development Program Manager immediately.
  • Attend local and state training, workshops, webinars, and other meetings for professional development as directed.
  • Assist in outreach and engagement efforts, including family nights and special events.
  • Welcome community guests and volunteers during Center operation
  • Attend school PTO and other meetings as assigned; interact with school faculty and staff as assigned in order to understand school day expectations and to monitor student behavior and academic achievement.
  • Promote and follow administration policies and procedures, building rules, and all other regulations.
  • Provide content to the Marketing and Events Manager as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing staff as assigned

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to escort children from location to location, inside and outside school building
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies, up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to demonstrate all activities to children, including arts and crafts and sports.
  • Must be available from for all training dates.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as assigned.
  • Carry a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets ERfC insurance carrier requirements.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • At least three years’ experience in early childhood education
  • Complete State certification as head teacher within 90 days of hiring date.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have required certification in pediatric CPR, first aid, medication administration, and epi-pen administration. Training will be available as needed.
  • Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Google programs

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
  • One to three years of demonstrated management experience.
