Summary

Staff at Wave Children's Learning Center create a caring and safe environment for the children and plan activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. Wave Children's Learning Center has been proudly serving the Great Neck community since 2004; we enroll students from 8 weeks to fifth grade. WCLC would love for you to join our team and make an impact in these families' lives!


We are currently seeking candidates that would be available to work a consistent Monday through Friday schedule through at least August 2027.


The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered, and that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.

Duties

  • Assume duties of Center Director and Teachers as needed during their absence.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with Center guidelines and state and local requirements; implement improvements where needed.
  • Maintain communication with families and community through appropriate outreach activities.
  • Follow all Center policies and state regulations.
  • This individual is directly responsible to ensure a positive and supportive culture exists among team members. Must be able to resolve conflicts positively.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 – 3 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Must clear full background check and pass a health screening.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; basic computer knowledge.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, reliable, and consistent; ability to work well with others.
  • Must be a quick learner.
  • Have a positive attitude.
  • Be able to stand/ walk/ run/ lift up to 35lbs.
  • Handle pressure with a smile and professionalism.
  • Enjoy working with children. We are a drug-free working environment.
  • Have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.

  • Familiarity with Creative Curriculum and Learning without Tears.
  • CPR Certification
