Early Childhood DC - Assistant Teacher

Summary

We are seeking a motivated professional that is passionate about early education to join our school as a Preschool Assistant Teacher. In this position, you assist the primary classroom teacher with activities and learning exercises and help them maintain a friendly, inclusive atmosphere for all students. Depending on needs and class sizes, you may take small groups of students aside for separate activities. You also help maintain student records of behavior and progress and keep parents up-to-date on their child’s development and learning.

Duties

• Assist primary teacher with activities and instructions.
• Maintain records of student progress and needs
• Help keep learning areas tidy and safe.
• Provide a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students.
• Support children with special or individual needs
• Support teachers in managing class behavior.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children in a licensed educational environment
• A passion for early childhood education and helping children grow in positive ways
• Excellent communication skills
• First Aid and CPR certification - Preferable
• Valid food handling permit - Preferable
