Summary

Starbright Early Learning Center is looking to hire a full-time teacher in our toddler classroom. We are a high quality learning center and our teachers understand the importance of developmentally appropriate practice. We emphasize creativity, self-discipline, and self-worth while working with children individually to help them identify their own unique strengths and abilities.

This is a part-time position. The hours for the position are 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm pm, Monday through Friday. For the toddler teaching position we do ask that the candidate have some experience in working with toddlers ages 12 months to 2.5 years.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Able to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Pass background check through Department of Early Learning.
  • Must be certified in CPR/1st (Child & Adult) prior to hire.
  • Must have current food worker card.
  • Have negative Tuberculosis test.
  • Certification in Bloodborne Pathogens and HIV/Aids training.
  • Follow center policies and procedures
  • Effectively understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain effectiveness in stressful situations
  • Effectively interact with children in a responsive, positive, and sensitive manner
  • Assist with daily diapering schedules and procedures
  • Understanding of early childhood development
  • Set up and serve, in the context of children's meals and snacks while maintaining awareness of children's allergies and/or sensitivities
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and mutual relationships with other employees

Requirements

Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean and orderly learning environment, which primarily consists of the entire classroom and select outdoor play areas.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactively meet children's socio-emotional care needs as well as basic needs.
  • Plan and implement curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and the unique learning style of each individual child.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions in-person or by phone.
  • Use the Starbright portfolio as an assessment tool and prepare monthly documentation of each child.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences reflecting a semi-yearly screening, daily observations, goals, room transition, or special needs of the child.
  • Evaluate, plan, and improve the physical environment on a regular basis to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child.
  • Maintain an awareness of dietary restrictions, allergies, and monitor nutritional wellness of each child.
  • Attend all in-service staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain yearly STARS requirement and pursue professional development opportunities to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Effectively work with teacher assistants and all team members.
